Business of the Year - Muskego Animal Hospital

Muskego Animal Hospital was selected for the 2008 Best of Muskego Award in the Veterinarians category by the U.S. Local Business Association (USLBA).

The USLBA "Best of Local Business" Award Program recognizes outstanding local businesses throughout the country. Each year, the USLBA identifies companies that they believe have achieved exceptional marketing success in their local community and business category. These are local companies that enhance the positive image of small business through service to their customers and community and Muskego Animal Hospital was selected for the 2008 Best of Muskego Award in the Veterinarians category.

Muskego Animal Hospital was established on Pioneer Drive in 1973 by Dr. Lee Elger after receiving his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from UW Minnesota in 1972. In 1978 the practice moved to a newly built facility on Janesville Road. A second facility was opened in the Wind Lake area in 1981. With steady growth, they now have 7 doctors, 7 Certified Veterinary Technicians, and 18 other support staff and associates.

Additionally, Dr. Elger was instrumental in establishing the Emergency Veterinary Referral Service in Waukesha. This is the only veterinary emergency service providing critical care for pets in the greater Waukesha area. The Muskego Area Chamber of Commerce now presents the 2008 Business of the Year Award to Muskego Animal Hospital.

Mayor's Beautification Award - The Gingerbread House

It is with great pleasure that Mayor Johnson recognizes The Gingerbread House for the 2008 Mayor?s Beautification Award.

Owner, Tracy Bohrer, had a dream that included every detail for the extensive remodel of the 1885 farmstead. Sugar and spice and fashionably nice is a very fitting company motto and is a striking entrance to Muskego located at Moorland Road and College Ave (S63 W16147 College Ave). While the site and buildings are conducive for business, it is a wonderful reflection of Muskego?s farming history.

The Gingerbread House features a coffee shop, lunch, dinner, bakery and boutique offering homemade delectables and handmade gifts and clothing. It has also become a warm and cozy gathering place for many.
