Chamber Programs

 

The Education & Mentoring Committee of the Muskego Area Chamber of Commerce represents business members dedicated to education and workforce training. This scholarship opportunity is funded by donations from our business members. The Chamber offers two annual scholarships ($1,000 each) to students enrolling in:

  • A 4-Year College or University
  • A Technical College or Trade School
  • An Approved Apprenticeship Program

High school seniors who currently attend a public, parochial/private, or home school and reside in the Muskego, Big Bend, Town of Norway, or Wind Lake communities are encouraged to apply by January 25. Please read the following before submitting application.

Student(s) must meet the following criteria to apply:

  1. Be a high school senior residing in the Muskego Chamber's service area (Muskego, Big Bend, Town of Norway, Wind Lake)
  2. Be involved in career readiness activities (work-based learning, tours, shadowing, internships) with an emphasis on participation in at least one activity not required by their work-based program. Applicants enrolled in a work-based program (such as Connect Academy) and/or dual credit program are preferred.
  3. Have a 2.0 GPA or higher as required by dual credit programs. The judging committee will use the GPA to verify that the applicant qualifies to be in a work-based learning or dual credit program.
  4. Complete all application requirements by the set deadline (January 25).

To apply:

  1. Submit this online form. NOTE: Have all information prepared before beginning online submission as this form does not auto-save.
  2. List contact information for three references (one from each category)
  • Employer (current or past)
  • School Faculty such as classroom teacher, counselor, or coach
  • Personal Acquaintance that is non-family
  1. Prepare ONE of the following (student's choice).
  • 3-5 minute video
  • 1-3 page essay

The video OR essay should include:

  • An introduction from the applicant to the Muskego Chamber's Education & Mentoring Committee
  • A short summary of the applicant's career plan and goals
  • A short summary of the applicant's participation in career readiness activities supporting their plan and goals

Submit these by JANUARY 25 to executivedirector@muskego.org.

Once application is received:

  • Within 48 hours of submission, the applicant will receive an email confirmation from the Chamber office indicating the application has been received.
  • During the week of January 29, the applicant will receive an email to set up an in-person interview with the Education & Mentoring Committee. This email will include a brief description of questions asked during the interview.
  • Between February 19 - 23, acceptance/declination letters will be sent via email to applicants and the scholarship recipients will receive a congratulatory phone call from the Muskego Chamber Executive Director.
    Scholarship recipients are invited to the Chamber's Awards Gala on Thursday, March 7. The recipient receives three complimentary tickets for the event (for student and parents/guests).
  • Scholarship recipients are asked to prepare a one-to-three minute acceptance speech to be given during the Awards Gala.
  • Scholarship funds are paid directly to the enrollment program. The recipient must provide their student information and admissions office or employer/tech program contact information to the Chamber.

The Partner Sponsor Program offers five sponsorship levels.

  • Platinum
  • Gold
  • Silver
  • Bronze
  • Copper

Partner sponsors are Chamber members who sponsor the Chamber's programs with resources and volunteers. Each level offers an annual, discounted price in exchange for continuous marketing, targeted advertisement, best prices on event registration, and special perks.

We encourage our members to participate in the marketing and event benefits of this  fabulous program.

Each year the Women's Business Connections (WBC) of the Muskego Chamber sponsors up to two female students from Muskego High School to attend Wisconsin Business World. Business world is organized by our state chamber, Wisconsin Manufacturing & Commerce (WMC)  Through WMC's foundation, high school students attend a week long summer program to experience real life business skills through hands-on, engaging activities and presentations.

Workforce development is vital to our local business community for both current and future employees. The Chamber's Education & Mentoring Committee spearheads our strategies to address workforce shortages and training through the following actions:

  • Partnering with and supporting workforce development in education and our local schools.
  • Leveraging online opportunities to assist in employment awareness.
  • Promoting technical training, career exploration, and workforce experience.
  • Encouraging Chamber members to post employment opportunities on the Chamber's job board.
  • Sharing member job postings with the community-at-large and the Muskego High School job board.

We work closely and support the efforts of Muskego-Norway School's Connect Academy.

As part of our workforce development initiative, Muskego Chamber's Education & Mentoring Committee collaborates and partners with our education professionals in the following areas:

  • Conducting Mock Interview with Students
  • Offering Mentoring Lunches to Simulate a Professional Networking Event
  • Participating in Industry Specific Events such as Manufacturing Inspirations Day
